As part of Clorox’s Kept Clean kitchen line, we set out to design a drying mat that offers maximum versatility while minimizing storage space.
Our solution: a foldable, interlocking drying mat that expands to create a large drying surface and folds compactly for easy storage. Through strategic research, trend analysis, and pricing studies, we identified key consumer needs — flexible use, efficient storage, and better adaptability for everyday kitchen tasks. The final design allows users to unfold the mat completely flat or partially fold it to create raised edges that help stack and organize dishes as they dry. Compact when stowed and spacious when in use, the Foldable Drying Mat brings everyday simplicity to busy kitchens.
The foldable panels open and close effortlessly, making setup and storage quick and seamless.
Renderings played a key role in communicating the design intent and refining the product’s collapsible features during development.
Prototyping is a key part of our development process — allowing us to refine the interlocking features, folding motion, and overall usability before final production.
As part of Clorox’s kitchen organization line Kept Clean, the interlocking drying mat joins a family of products designed with a focus on versatility, compact storage, and everyday ease — developed through our collaborative design process.
